KEN KESEY'S SELF-INSERTION
October 2017
In this paper I argue that author Ken Kesey’s utilizes self-insertion in the representation of his main character Randal McMurphy in the novel One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. I use evidence from the novel, movie, and autobiographical book The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test to assert this claim through Kesey’s use of tone, imagery, and diction from the novel in comparison to Kesey’s actual mannerisms from the above-mentioned autobiography. Click the image to read.
